Botany is plant biology: the study of plants. This is my favorite field of science. Plants truly are gorgeous emergences of natural complexity.

Heather and I began gardening at Diyafa.

I have used the land surrounding our new home as a platform for learning about plants. Flourishing

[edit] Front Terrace

This terrace is situated on the front side of the house, facing the street.

[edit] Plants

  • Valencia orange tree (Midknight - seedless). Produces fruit April-October.
  • Morning Glories. A very aggressive plant, but gorgeous, like flowers in tangled hair.
  • Trailing rosemary.
  • Heather.
  • Lavender.
  • Pineapple sage.
  • Thyme.

[edit] Patio Terrace

There is a narrow terrace in the back patio, surrounding the pool and supporting the fence.

  • Palm trees (8).
  • Dwarf date palms (14).
  • Silver Dragon Lilyturf (Liriope spicata) (3?).

[edit] Herb Garden

We put in a raised herb garden in the back.

[edit] Plants

  • Basil (Ocimum basilicum)
  • French thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
  • Chives

We have a number of plants in planters in the back patio.
